Barack Obama Inauguration 2013

Barack Obama has his inauguration yesterday and once again, it still takes my breath away and makes me feel so proud that it is a sight I live to see again and that is a member of my community, my race, my skin colour is the President of the United States of America. Not only am I proud because he is black, but because he has amazing poise, he has an amazing grace, and he stands for something so much greater than himself that it is almost unbelievable!

He said some touching words on at the inauguration and he inspired hope and promise to the many hundreds of thousands who watched in Washington, let alone the millions around the world who were equally inspired.

I hope that he continues to have the strength, passion and determination which I know he has, to continue and do the best job that he can do in times that are one of the toughest the world has ever faced.

I must also say that I am really feeling this Michelle-Obamafied Fringe! Her fringe is so cute and even on a mature sophisticated woman that she is,  looks so elegant and just rounds off her look. Whoever suggested the ‘banging’ bangs, then Nubian Sisters definitely salutes you. Once again, I have to say that Michelle Obama is such a strong and inspiring woman and I’m honoured also to see such a strong intelligent woman as the first First Lady of African origin! Sasha and Malia were also well turned out!

Beyonce’s rendition of the Star Spangled Banner was also very touching, and once again, she never fails to disappoint with her vocals. I must say, she looked good with simple make-up. She didnt look too overdone and she did her job well. Only a few get the honour to do what she did that day- well done to the Queen of Pop/Rnb.

  1. **You said@” Not only am I proud because he is black, but because he has amazing poise, he has an amazing grace, and he stands for something so much greater than himself that it is almost unbelievable!…”

*Ooooh you said MORE than a mouthful ! I totally AGREE..Can I say enough about how I felt yesterday? Can I say enough about how I felt Election night? Can I properly express how tense it was watching the debates ? Or how PERSONAL it felt during this entire Presidential Campaign..I wrote on it alot@how I felt, my political leanings, and the happenings of the campaign process that I do not like. The ugliness! The waste of SO much money that could’ve been better spent on the millions of starving , home less, JOB less Americans in our great country. And yet, the very final result is that OUR President won…For now yesterday all was right and perfect. What a day! On MLK, Jr holiday President Barack Obama was sworn in public for the 2nd time in history. Yep, I was walking on AIR all day long…I have been known to say there aren’t many people who could render me speechless. There aren’t many people that I could LISTEN to for hours and hours and hours on end; regardless of the topic. There isn’t another person that I would feel comfy at the head of our country at this time other than President Barack Obama. Congrats to him and to US on gaining another 4 years to make our country ALL it can BE..As always stay UPlifted ya’ll and blessed!

    • Amen girl! You said it all and more. It being MLK was just the icing on the cake. Black people have come so far, but we still have a mountain to climb based on historical factors and the perpetuating feeling of social and racial degradation. I guess it will take centuries to undo the damage of hundreds of years. But Like Martin L King- ‘I (still) have a dream’ and Obama is testiment to that.

      • **Agreed. One VOW I’ve made to myself is that for sure without a doubt; I’m going to SEE President Obama in person this term. Near missed him twice this time..but my eldest & my parents on different occasions have seen/heard his speeches in person. My eldest son said the AIR was electric(President Obama spoke at graduation a few yrs back) And my parents/friends saw him while on campaign visit recently and they’re STILL talking about it. The good news? I think President Obama knows just how much pride his being where he is; gives those of us who look like him. Especially my parents’ generation who never thought they’d see the day when…..

      • Without a doubt I WILL..When we think & say things we claim them; and we inspire ourselves to do things to reach that goal. To top that off I think I’ll meet him by years’ end..And of course I’ll come here to blog ALL about it Lol!
